“You too, Papa?”

She thinks to herself that she was glad to be an ordinary person who would never be called upon for courage. What future event might this passage foreshadow? Is there a theme being expressed here and what is it? What probably is going to happen is that Annemarie is going o have to watch over and protct the Rosens. The patern is that everyone is going to have to work together and save the jews from the Germans.

1. When Annemarie and Ellen talk about Lise’s accident, Annemarie remembers that her “Papa looked so angry. Someone probably killed her purpusly. Maybe the Germans. He was probably mad at someone who did it.

She believes that she is going to be safe because her parents are there to take care of them and protect them.
3. Why does Pape tear the threee photographs out of the album? Chapter 6

He told Annemarie that it would be better for her to think there was a real Aunt Birte then to pretend there was. It would make her more brave about it if the soldiers had came and asked her questions. 3. Find a line from this chapter that shows Annemarie is maturing.
She went to her Uncle and faced it like an older person and said, "You are lying to me. You and Mama both." I think that is mature because she went up to him, bravely and asked him.

4. Reread the psalm and Annemarie’s reaction to the reading of it. What do you think is the significance of the title of this book?
It means that anyone can do anything if they try. Like in the psalm it said this man??(This man is God.) helped heal the broken spirits and binded up their wounds and he numbered the stars one by one on the way doing that.
Chapter 11
1. What is in the casket? Warm, ragedy, and wool blankets for the Rosens and other families going on the boat. 2. Why did Peter insist upon giving the baby some medicine? He insists just in case on the jouney the baby would get sick. So in this case it would be less bad of a illness.
3. One possible theme for this novel is that it is easier for people to be brave if they do not know everything. Use an incident that happened in this novel to prove that. Annemarie's mom and Uncle told Ellen and her that her Aunt had died. Annemarie didn't believe that there truly was one. She talked to her uncle and he said that it was easier to be brave not knowing everything. When the soilders came tthey asked Annemarie a question and she realized that it was true that not knowing things made it easier to be brave.

DANIEL'S STORY Part one- Daniel is on a train because the Nazis took his family and many others and are taking them somewhere. Daniel doesn't know where he is going yet. His sister is composing music in her head and not caring so he doesn't think it could be that bad. He will find out. Daniel is looking through all the pictures of what happened back home in his home town, Germany. Some of the pictures are very sad. His mother is almost crying now because it is so sad. He thinks about his teacher which treats him awfully because he is a Jew. I can't believe that adults could treat kids in such a mean way. This is such a horrible thing that happened to all these Jews. We are lucky that it isn't like that now. Part Two- In Part Two then are traveling to the work camp called Lodz. They are on a train going to the camp. At the camp the Jews will work and hardly get ant food. It is really sad to read but it has so many interesting facts. Sometimes the Jews had to trade some of their belongings for food. It was terrible. And hitler was incharge of this mess and he didn't care about the Jews. Dainel met a girl named Rosa and it was love at first sight. Though he was sad she took most of the pain away when he was near her, but she wasn't with him hardly anytime. It was a sad time now. It was harder then anytime before and Daniel had grown up.
Part Three- Dainel and his father are very weak now and it has been so long since they left Germany and now their in Auschwitz. They found Erika and they were soo sooooooooooooooo happy because they thought she was dead. But then they remembered that mother had not survived because she was so sick and there was no chance she was going to survive. Daniel was working for the Resistance by taking pictures of the gas chambers and ruinindg all of the tools so they would never make any progress in finishing the weapons. They are on their way to Buchenwald
Part Four- They arived at Buchenwald, the worst concentration camp for working. Dainel and is dad were used to working this hard and getting less food but this was bad. All they could think about is possibly getting out of this place and seeing Rosa and her family and Erika. Being free. Hopefully the pictures pulled off and the Nazi soldiers would leave them alone. Soon the Jews were freed and it was impossible to imagine how happy and sad at th same time the Jews must have been. It was so hard for me to think that people could be so rasist and vile to these human beings. This taught me a great lesson and I just loved reading this. Afterward Daniel found Rosa and they got married. It was over and the Jews could just live their lives to the fullest now that all the bad was set away.
that sounds like a really sad book :(
-Anna
I don't read this book, but good job! agree with Anna. This does sound kinda sad!
